Image processing is the processing method of digital images with some mathematical operations. In order to get enhanced image firstly extract some relevant useful information from it and process according to the requirements. Digital image processing is the main core research area in computer and electronics field. It includes basic three steps image acquisition, analyzing and manipulating the image and output. Digital image processing helps in manipulation of the digital images by using computers. The three general phases of image processing are pre-processing of the raw image or data, enhancement and extraction of information from the image. In order to become suitable for digital image processing, an image function f(x, y) must be converting into digital both spatially and in amplitude. A data acquisition card is used to sample and quantize the analog information. The sampling rate determines the spatial resolution of the digitized image, while the levels of quantization determine the number of gray levels in the image. The transition between continuous values of the image its functions and its digital equivalent. The number of quantization levels should be high enough for human eye perception of shading details in the image. The image enhancement techniques have been widely used in many practical applications of image processing where the quality of images is important for interpretation. Contrast is an important factor in subjective evaluation of image quality.
